PAUL VAN STEENSEL

PRESIDENT

Cape Dreams Building and Design, LLC. was founded by Paul van Steensel in 2004. Having had the good fortune of working for some of the best builders on Cape Cod for several years, he was exposed to many of the intricate facets of the building industry. The company has grown from building decks and replacing windows to building high-end custom homes. The company continues to work with a wide range of clients with projects ranging from small bathroom renovations to some of the most complex custom homes built on the Cape. Paul founded Cape Dreams on the belief that honesty, quality, and professionalism make a lasting impression and truly distinguish it from our competitors. Of course, these qualities aren’t necessarily chosen, they are most often inherent and simply a reflection of an individual or a team’s core values: these are the values of Cape Dreams.

Paul was interested in construction from an early age. He spent 6 summers during high school and college cooking at a restaurant in Brewster. Before the seasonal restaurant opening, he helped build its decks and perform general carpentry maintenance. After attending the Marshal School of Business at the University of Southern California, he decided to move back to the Cape with the goal of eventually starting his own construction business.

Cape Dreams is comprised of its own employees, designers, and subcontractors. Without the efforts and expertise of all, we would not be able to offer you the highest level of quality, service, and customer satisfaction that has led to our success. 

Paul lives in Orleans with his two sons and enjoys fishing, golf, hockey, windsurfing, and skiing.

ALLEN S. FURMAN

VICE PRESIDENT

Allen S. Furman has over 17 years of experience in the construction industry. Allen possesses a MA CSL license, a degree in Construction Engineering & Project Management, and has been certified as a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP®). His experience ranges from residential community development in Florida, and bio-medical research laboratory construction in Connecticut to his passion for custom home building here on Cape Cod. Allen has been recognized for his entrepreneurial spirit, commitment to community service, and desire to positively contribute to the future of our region. Amongst his professional recognition, Allen been awarded the BRICC Award for Best Project Manager, honored as one of the 40 Under 40 by Cape & Plymouth Business Magazine & has managed several award-winning projects. Allen has also been personally recognized by the American Red Cross of Cape Cod for “Good Samaritan/Law Enforcement” for his assistance in saving the lives of a drowning mother & son.

In his free time, Allen enjoys dedicating himself to coaching with local youth sports organizations & exploring Cape Cod with his wife Susie and their two children Lilly & Maxtyn.

MICHAEL WALLACE

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE

Mike spent 40 years as a corporate executive in the telecommunications industry. He owned East Coast Cable & Communications, a contract service firm with over 200 employees in seven states and annual revenue of over $20 million. The company was sold in 2012, and Mike retired to Orleans, MA, where he began working in real estate development on the Cape in partnership with Cape Dreams.

Mike has collaborated with Cape Dreams on numerous successful real estate development projects. He is responsible for handling the acquisition, financing, and legal matters.

JON BUCK

PROJECT MANAGER

Jon has been working in the high-end residential market as a general contractor and project manager for more than 15 years. He began his career in residential construction at a young age, apprenticed to his dad in Chatham. After graduating UMass-Amherst’s Honors College, he spent several years in California, beginning in Santa Barbara, where he honed his woodworking skills crafting high-end bespoke cabinetry while managing a woodshop. He developed his appreciation for diverse architectural design and all of the problem solving and coordination that ushers those designs into reality. Just down the road from Frank Lloyd Wright’s iconic coastal build in Carmel-by-the-Sea, Jon oversaw the construction of a remarkable custom home, managing complex structural engineering requirements and meeting the clients’ artistic design goals.

Jon is proficient in CAD and often utilizes Sketchup to help clients visualize design details and achieve their dream home. Jon shares a passion for design, along with a deep love of the outdoors, with his wife Abby, and their son Calvin.

PETER MARTINEZ

PROJECT MANAGER

With over twenty years of experience in the construction industry, Pete is a project manager at Cape Dreams Building and Design LLC. His career began in San Antonio, TX in 2001, following a decade of service in the US Navy. Since relocating to Cape Cod, MA in 2009, he has applied his expertise in the field. Pete has designed and constructed several notable projects, including a 4,000 sq ft elliptical art studio in Duxbury, MA, in addition to various residential homes and renovations throughout the Boston area and Cape Cod. In his free time, he enjoys activities such as fishing, hunting, snowboarding, and playing golf around the area.
